MB&F Certified Pre-Owned

LM1 PLATINUM

Legacy Machine No.1 was first launched in 2011, opening up the Legacy Machine collection, with its own distinct design philosophy: what would MB&F have created a century ago? The result is a tribute to the great innovators of traditional watchmaking: a round case, white lacquer dials with an enamel-like gloss, Roman numerals, classically finished movement plates and bridges decorated with Geneva stripes and mirror-bright polished chamfers.

But there are a few twists: the distinctive features of LM1 are the large 14mm “flying” balance wheel, its one-of-a-kind vertical power reserve indicator and the completely independent dual time zones.

As you would expect, our curated MB&F Certified Pre-Owned timepieces go through a full check-up at our workshop in Geneva, where our watchmakers clean, polish, check water resistance, movement functions and time regulation. If necessary, we restore using our own original parts. And we ship the piece to you anywhere in the world, free of charge.

Worldwide shipping is offered free of charge. Local customs duties and other taxes applicable in the country of delivery are borne by the buyer.

Description

Legacy Machine N°1 offers completely independent dual time zones: both the hours AND the minutes on both dials can be set to any time desired via their respective crowns. Complementing the three-dimensionality of the oversized 14mm balance wheel floating in space, the dual white laquered dials with their bright blue gold hands float above the top of the movement.

Looking like a miniature sextant, a world-first vertical power reserve indicator keeps track of available power.

Legacy Machine No.1 was awarded the Public Prize (voted for by horology fans) and the Best Men’s Watch Prize (voted for by the jury) at the 2012 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.

The Creator

Maximilian Büsser and Friends

After decades confirming to the rules of corporate watchmaking, Max Büsser broke the chains and started a rebellion in 2005; a rebellion called MB&F - Maximilian Büsser & Friends.

MB&F is an artistic concept laboratory based around a simple idea: to assemble collectives of independant watchmaking professionals to develop radical watches - Horological or Legacy Machines. By nurturing teams of talented individuals, harnessing their passion and creativity and crediting each person's essential role, MB&F uses their synergy to become much greater than the sum of its parts. Respecting tradition, but never constrained by it, MB&F reinterprets traditional, high-quality watchmaking into three-dimensional kinetic sculptures.

While MB&F’s futuristic Horological Machines have a firm foundation in the very best of traditional horology, Büsser wanted to pay homage to that rich tradition by imagining the type of timepieces he might create if he had been born 100 years earlier, i.e. 1867 instead of 1967. This gave birth to the more classic Legacy Machine collection, initiated with Legacy Machine No.1.
